Senior Scientific Research Project Administrator
Health Research, Inc. (HRI) Roswell Park Division is seeking a full-time Senior Scientific Research Project Administrator. The Senior Scientific Research Project Administrator maintains responsibility for a variety of duties associated with scientific senior level management and administration of discrete organization research projects and programs; manages large scale, multi-center NIH-funded program project grants, which includes all budgetary management, sub contract development and management, accounting, invoicing as well as all scientific administration and progress report generation; maintains substantial contracts with external study sites, staff and grant managers; provides a complete range of managerial responsibilities in the realm of research for the department including establishing policies and standard operating procedures, hiring and supervision of staff, study development information and data development, IRB protocols, study maintenance, manuscript and grant development and reporting and monitoring; maintains the department web site; develops, plans and initiates recruitment efforts and management of staff for the Data Bank and BioRepository; provides backup administration duties as needed for the Department Administrator III.
The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in a health or science-related field and the equivalent of eight years of full-time experience in a scientific or research setting, including two years of supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive experience in a grants management environment. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience working in the area of biomedical research (in academic or industry settings); The preferred candidate will have a MS degree, PhD or equivalent. Experience with research grant development submission and reporting; excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills; documented ability to coordinate efforts between multiple groups; ability to prioritize multiple tasks, identify potential roadblocks and propose solutions are a must. The preferred candidate will have experience with preparing scientific manuscripts in the area of biomedical research, either laboratory or clinical; general understanding of DoD and NIH budget preparation; past experience with grant preparation and running research as a PI. Must have the ability to work flexible hours if needed to meet deadlines; be considerate of individual needs and expectations, courteous and supportive of others; have the ability to manage and resolve conflicts and conflicting schedules; ability to identify win-win solutions and motivate collaborating teams; ability to think critically about programmatic, financial and policy issues; ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
