Supports clinical and scientific research throughout the organization; assists with or conducts experiments and procedures under the direction of a supervisor; presents findings including preliminary interpretation for further review; inputs clinical and research information into the designated database system; conducts routine maintenance of equipment and machinery as needed. The Genomics Shared Resource (GSR) at Roswell Park is looking for a motivated and highly skilled candidate for Research Technologist position. The Research Technologist is responsible for performing various high-throughput genomics applications, including but not limited to gene expression analysis using RT-PCR, high-throughput PCR applications, DNA/RNA extraction, Next Generation sequencing, and microarray analyses. Additional duties include routine maintenance of equipment, purchasing reagents/consumables, and assisting with compliance with local and federal guidelines. This position requires excellent molecular biology, computer, and organizational skills.
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline or a Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline and the equivalent of one year of full-time experience in a laboratory setting. The preferred candidate will have the following: Proficiency in PCR, RT-QPCR, nucleic acid extraction methods; Proficiency in computer and Microsoft office; and experience in microarray hybridization, next generation sequencing and Sanger sequencing technologies.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
