Supports clinical and scientific research throughout the organization; assists with or conducts experiments and procedures under the direction of a supervisor; presents findings including preliminary interpretation for further review; inputs clinical and research information into the designated database system; conducts routine maintenance of equipment and machinery as needed. Gene expression analysis using RT-PCR, high throughput PCR applications and gel electrophoresis, cDNA/DNA/RNA preparation and quality control, Next Generation sequencing, & microarray analyses. Additional duties include routine maintenance of equipment, purchasing reagents/consumables, and assisting with compliance with local and federal guidelines. This position requires excellent computer and organizational skills.
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline; or a Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline and the equivalent of one year of full-time experience in a laboratory setting. The preferred candidate will have the following BA/MA degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and/or Biology; One to two years experience in genomics field with RT-qPCR, microarray hybridization and Next Generation sequencing; Sanger sequencing and data analysis experience; Proficiency in nucleic acid extraction methods and quality control.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
