Performs technical lab work of advanced difficulty in a scientific research lab. Utilizes quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze lab fluid or tissue samples. Operates and cares for lab equipment. Maintains lab supplies and related inventory. Prepares standard media, cultures, reagents, stains and solutions. Tracks, stores, retrieves and distributes specimens for lab analysis; prepares related records. Inputs clinical and research information into the designated database system; conducts routine maintenance of equipment and machinery as needed and conducts quality assessment on sample procurement. Ability to provide preliminary interpretation of data, trouble shoot and assist investigators with research protocols.
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline or a Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline and the equivalent of one year of full-time experience in a laboratory setting. The preferred candidate will have experience working with processing blood and or tissue products; possess at least five years working in a laboratory setting as a technician and at least five years experience utilizing laboratory equipment. A degree in biology or laboratory sciences is preferred. The preferred candidate must be very organized with and very detail oriented; possess the ability to take initiative, and work well alone and in a team environment; must have proven track record of the ability to think critically and follow SOP's in a laboratory setting; and must be reliable with excellent problem solving and communication skills.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
