Description of Duties:
Health Research Incorporated (HRI) Roswell Park Division is seeking a full-time Research Associate. This is a temporary position with opportunity to become permanent. HRI offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. The Research Technologist will perform technical laboratory work including human bio specimen handling with aseptic techniques, to develop and characterize 2D and 3D cultures systems. Characterization will include molecular assays, immunofluoresence, data analysis and record keeping. The employee utilizes quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze laboratory fluid or tissue samples; operates and caring for laboratory equipment; maintains laboratory supplies and related inventory; prepares standard media, cultures, reagents, stains and solution; participates in and performing assigned phases of scientific research projects; tracks, stores, retrieves and distributes specimens for laboratory analysis; prepares related records, and maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objective, quality assurance programs and safety and compliance standards. The Research Technologist will enhance professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reading current literature and participating in in-service meetings and workshops and prepares other written documentation as required by the profession and the department; maintains distributes, analyses and project information for required records, reports and statistics as directed. The Research Technologist performs other related duties as assigned.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline and the equivalent of one year of full-time experience in a laboratory setting; or a Bachelor's degree in a clinical or scientific discipline and thirty graduate credits leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate clinical or scientific discipline. The preferred candidate will have proficiency in tissue culture techniques and/or experience in managing mouse colonies including animal health checks, shipments, transfers, weaning, recording birth data, and genotyping. The applicant will have skills with animal procedures (introperitoneal injection or oral gavages, subcutaneous, mammary fat pad and pancreatic orthotopic surgeries. The applicant will have organizing and planning skills and effective verbal and written communication, pay attention to detail, and be an effective team player.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
