Health Research, Inc. (HRI) Roswell Park Division is seeking a full-time Research Associate. The Research Associate Performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests and experimental procedures for the purposes of original research which generally are within a well-defined body of scientific knowledge and typically contribute to larger research efforts of independent investigators. Performs a variety of specialized and state-of-the-art laboratory tests and experimental procedures to support clinical and scientific research throughout the institute; organizes and presents findings including preliminary interpretation for further review; inputs research and material information into the LIMS database system; researches and develops cutting-edge technologies. Tests performed include miRNA and gene expression analysis using RT-qPCR and Next Generation sequencing. Designs and carries out Next Generation sequencing assays, including RNA-Seq and single-cell sequencing technologies. Operates state of- the-art equipment, including NGS sequencers, Fluidigm C1 and access array systems. Responsible for implementation of new technologies related to genomic analysis.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree and the equivalent of eighteen months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of thirty months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment. The preferred candidate will have the following BA/MA degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and/or Biology; Three to five years experience in genomics field with RT-qPCR, microarray hybridization and Next Generation sequencing; Proficiency in nucleic acid extraction methods and quality control; Excellent computer and organizational skills; and management experience.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
