The Department of Cancer Prevention and Control is seeking a Research Associate to conduct population-based research. This person will work closely and collaboratively with department faculty, epidemiologists and social scientists. Primary duties include: Participate in study data collection on multiple research studies; Tracking of study participants;Perform quality assurance and cleaning on data collected from field research; Manage and merge datasets, getting data ready for analyses; Assist in protocol preparation and IRB submissions; Perform data analysis related to study aims and preliminary data for grant submission; Create data reports suitable for publication; Summarize data graphically in tables and figures; Assist in manuscript writing and development; Assist in grant preparation.
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree and the equivalent of eighteen months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of thirty months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment. The preferred candidate will have a Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or related fields with concentration in epidemiology, be proficient in SAS or other statistical package and have a minimum of 24 months of full-time professional research and data management experience. The preferred candidate should have experience in a research or academic background and working knowledge of statistical methods with experience in statistical programming. The preferred candidate should possess excellent communication and writing skills, preferably science writing; should excel working independently as well as in a team and should demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving ability, as well as attention to detail and accuracy.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
