Description of Duties:
The Research Associate position is a career opportunity in rigorous academic laboratory for self-motivated, flexible candidate, capable of working independently on different projects. The Research Associate performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests and experimental procedures for the purposes of original research which generally are within a well-defined body of scientific knowledge and typically contribute to larger research efforts of independent investigators. The Research Associate establishs effective working relationships with the Primary Investigator, lab members (e.g. students, postdocs, staff) and other scientists; Maintains data in laboratory notebooks/server, analyzes and interprets data; Prepares written material and illustrations for publication, posters, and oral presentations; Maintains literature databases; Prepares weekly progress reports, participates in laboratory meetings and attends department/institutional seminars; Maintains a high degree of organizational skills and detailed record keeping; Enables the smooth operation of the lab by maintaining clean and safe laboratory work area and laboratory instruments, periodically updating databases of cell and animal models, following biosafety guidelines and preparing biosafety reports to adhere to established institutional safety policies and procedures (IACUC submissions).
Applicants must have a Master’s degree and the equivalent of eighteen months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of thirty months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment. The preferred candidate should have the ability to perform immunology and molecular biology research to establish the reciprocal role of microenvironment and epithelial cells on the process of lumenogenesis in a variety of experimental models: 3D cell models, organoids, and mouse models of tumorigenesis.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
