Description of Duties:
Health Research Incorporated (HRI) Roswell Park Division is seeking a full-time Research Associate. This is a temporary position with opportunity to become permanent. HRI offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. The Research Associate supports scientific research activities under the direction of the PI. The employee conducts complex experiments and specialized laboratory tests; presents findings including preliminary interpretation for further review; inputs clinical and or research information into a designated database system; generates written reports; prepares and maintains IACUC protocols; assists in manuscript and grant writing; conducts preventative and routine maintenance of equipment and machinery as needed and keeps maintenance records of lab equipment, repairs and inspections; manages and or participates in technical training of new staff and students of lab procedures and safety training; oversight of laboratory supply ordering/inventory; responds to emergency calls relating to the operations of the designated research program; coordinates OES inspections and resolves any issues and or violations in a timely manner and attends scientific meetings as require; processes tissue and blood submitted to laboratory for various studies and extracts cells for various studies; interacts with CRM users and collaborators. The Research Associate performs other related duties as assigned.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree and the equivalent of eighteen months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of thirty months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment. The preferred candidate will have three or more years research laboratory experience in molecular biology including DNA/RNA isolation and PCR; experience with cancer cell biology techniques related to assessment of novel cancer therapeutics (cell culture, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, migration/invasion); experience with IACUC protocol preparation and maintenance; and proficiency with animal handling and animal procedures. The candidate will also have excellent organization and communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
