Description of Duties:
The Pathology Resource Technologist performs simple and complex experimental/laboratory tasks within the Pathology Network Shared Resource laboratories and tissue banks to provide services, biospecimens, or laboratory results for customers/investigators for use in research projects related to translational research in a timely, accurate and dependable manner. The Pathology Resource Technologist will routinely handle fresh tissue and process it for distribution or banking and handle formalin fixed tissue, performing multiple staining procedures and handling incoming requests through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). They will also provide technical supervision and training for other PRN members. The Pathology Resource Technologist may be tasked to specialize in one sub lab or cross train in several sub labs in order to provide coverage to any area as required and assigned by the management team.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a biological science; or an Associate’s degree in a biological science and the equivalent of two years of full-time experience as a Histotechnician and/or as a Pathology Resource Technician [RPCI]; or a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of four years of full-time experience as a Histotechnician and/or as a Pathology Resource Technician [RPCI]. The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a biological science and at least two years of full-time experience as a Histotechnician and/or as a Pathology Resource Technician. They will also have experience in histological procedures, fresh tissue handling, tissue biobanking, and have an exceptional ability to focus on detail and accuracy.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
