Description of Duties

Health Research, Inc. (HRI) Roswell Park Division is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician Performs technical laboratory work in a scientific research laboratory. Utilizes quantitative and qualitative laboratory techniques to advance research projects as instructed. Operates and cares for laboratory equipment; maintains laboratory supplies and related inventory. Prepares standard media, cultures, reagents, stains and solutions. Participates in and performs assigned phases of scientific research projects. Tracks, stores, retrieves and distributes specimens for laboratory analysis; prepares related records. Effectively use computers to organize and analyze laboratory research efforts. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety and
compliance standards. Enhances professional growth and development by participating in education programs, reading current literature and participating in in-service meetings and workshops. Prepares written and graphical documentation required for research publications and presentation. Maintains, distributes, analyzes and projects information for required records, reports and statistics as directed. Attends meetings as required. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time laboratory experience. The preferred candidate will have the following: Biomedical research experience; Lab animal experience and recent publication or technical writing experience in biomedical field. The preferred candidate will also possess: excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to prioritize work and use time efficiently; ability to work in fast pace
environment; take initiative; and strong ability to multi-task and organize. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is also
preferred.

This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
