The Laboratory Technician performs technical laboratory work in a scientific research laboratory. The Laboratory Technician utilizes quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze laboratory fluid or tissue samples. Prepares standard media, cultures, reagents, stains and solutions. Participates in and performs assigned phases of scientific research projects. Tracks, stores, retrieves and distributes specimens for laboratory analysis; prepares related records. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety and compliance standards. Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reading current literature and participating in in-service meetings and workshops. Prepares other written documentation as required by the profession and the department; maintains, distributes, analyzes and projects information for required records, reports and statistics as directed. In this position, the candidate will participate in a project that conducts correlative studies associated with an ongoing phase Ib/II clinical trial. Specifically, the candidate will be involved in lab research on isolating circulating tumor cells from blood samples, cell culture, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining, immunoblotting, live cell imaging, and other related techniques.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time laboratory experience. The preferred candidate will have Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or a biomedical science and will have past experience with related techniques for the area.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
