Description of Duties:
Performs technical lab work of advanced difficulty in a scientific research lab. Utilizes quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze lab fluid or tissue samples. Operates and cares for lab equipment. Maintains lab supplies and related inventory. Prepares standard media, cultures, reagents, stains and solutions. Tracks, stores, retrieves and distributes specimens for lab analysis; prepares related records.
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time laboratory experience. The preferred candidate will have a Biology or Laboratory Science degree and at least five years working in a laboratory setting as a technician and at least five years experience utilizing laboratory equipment. The preferred candidate will also have experience working with processing blood products. The preferred candidate must be very organized with and very detail oriented; have the ability to take initiative; have the ability to work well in a team environment; and must be reliable with excellent proven problem solving and communication skills
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
