Description of Duties

The Laboratory Technician will perform basic laboratory tasks including equipment maintenance, preparing solutions, gel electrophoresis, PCR, place consumable orders and maintain laboratory supplies and related inventory as directed. The Laboratory Technician participates in and performs assigned phases of scientific research projects, maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety and compliance standards, and prepares other written documentation as required by the lab and/or department. The Lab Technician will also prepare, analyze, distribute and maintain project information for required reports and statistics, as directed. This is a temporary position with opportunity to become permanent.


Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time laboratory experience. The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a research lab with knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Excel spreadsheet manipulation. The preferred candidate should be willing to learn more advanced techniques while working closely with other lab personnel. They will also have experience with cancer research approaches, tissue culture techniques and animal handling procedures is also preferred.
