Description of Duties:
The Laboratory Technician performs technical laboratory work in a scientific research laboratory. The Laboratory Technician assists with designing and performs research experiments as requested by Principal Investigator and sets up, calibrates, and performs routine maintenance on specialized laboratory equipment. They also maintain meticulous laboratory records and inventory, prepare standard media, cultures, reagents, stains, and solutions, and maintain a meticulous laboratory notebook.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time laboratory experience. The preferred candidate will have experience in tissue culture techniques, experience with animal handling or will be willing to work with animals, and experience with basic molecular biology techniques (Western blot, PCR, cloning). They will also have a strong attention to detail.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
