Description of Duties:
The Laboratory Technician will perform technical laboratory work of advanced difficulty under Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) to generate clinical grade cell therapy products and simple lot release assays. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, development and implementation of standard operating procedures; calibration, maintenance and quality control of equipment; meticulous record keeping following cGMP standards. The Laboratory Technician will also be responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies and reagents, environmental monitoring (viable and non-viable particle counts), picking up and delivering cell products, national and international shipping of cell products andmaking improvements on currently used and new techniques/methodologies on a continual basis. The duties of the Laboratory Technician include obtaining and interpreting data.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time laboratory experience.
The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, training in basic tissue cell culture; cGMP & GLP training preferred; at least one year experience in sterile tissue culture work with previous work experience in a cell processing laboratory; prior experience working with human apheresis products, blood, bone marrow, HSC preferred; experience in writing and updating Standard Operating Procedures; experience in reading methods from scientific literature and adapting, optimizing laboratory protocols; prior experience working under Good Manufacturing Practices and understanding of cGMP regulations and quality; knowledge of flow cytometry techniques; and MS Office Suite skills.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
