Description of Duties:
The Laboratory Technician manages mouse colonies and trains new staff on appropriate animal handling techniques as requested, manages IACUC protocols including new applications, amendments and renewals, is responsible for thorough understanding of USDA applications and inspections, and meets with inspectors as requested. The Laboratory Technician also supports clinical and scientific research activities under the direction of department supervisors, handles and obtains samples from the animal research facility, compiles and enters data into the designated database system, generates reports, and conducts preliminary data interpretation. They also design spreadsheet algorithms to automate and/or simplify data reduction, generate and assemble tables or graphs of processed data, and consults with laboratory personnel to interpret preliminary data.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time laboratory experience. The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field, two years experience working with animals, and experience in cell and tissue culture. They will also have experience with Flow Cytometry, GLP/GMP experience, and have the ability to work in a fast paced, translational research environment.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
