Description of Duties:
The Laboratory Technician focuses on translational and clinical research in the area of cancer immunotherapy. The goal is to develop and test, in clinical settings, new forms of dendritic cell-based therapy of cancer and to manipulate TME in order to enhance the effectiveness of cancer immunotherapy. The research involves human and mouse preclinical models (cultures of human tumor and lymph node explants, cultures of human immune cells involving T cells, NK cells, dendritic cells and other myeloid cells and cancer cells) and mouse transplantable tumor models. The long-term goal is to develop and test in the clinical settings new forms of cancer immunotherapy and the novels ways to mobilize the immune system to enhance antitumor effectiveness of chemo- and radio-therapy. The Laboratory Technician will participate in the ongoing and new projects and will focus on the production of clinical grade cellular products (dendritic cells and dendritic cell-activated lymphocytes) for the clinical trials.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time laboratory experience. The preferred candidate will have experience with long term cultures of human primary cells (lymphocytes, myeloid cells), flow cytometry, ELISA, and with data analysis and preparation of scientific reports. They also will have experience with cultures of human dendritic cells, in vitro cultures of T cells, RT-PCR, immunofluroescence microscopy, and previous GMP or GLP experience. This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
