Description of Duties:
The Laboratory Technician Performs technical laboratory work of advanced difficulty under Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) to manufacture clinical grade cell therapy products and run simple lot release assays, following standard operating procedures. They also are responsible for basic lab maintenance including calibration, maintenance and quality control of equipment, meticulous record keeping following cGMP standards, ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies and reagents, environmental monitoring (viable and non-viable particle counts), picking up and receipt of cell products, and national and international shipping of cell products. The Laboratory Technician also generates lab protocols, keeps in close contact with technical support specialists for operating equipments and software, performs simple and complex laboratory tests and cell manipulation procedures in a timely manner as assigned, obtains and interprets data, and performs related laboratory technology duties. They also prepare SOPs, forms and other documents relating to quality and manufacture/preparation of therapeutic cell products.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time laboratory experience. The preferred candidate will have a BS in Biology, training in cell tissue culture, stem cell processing or cell therapy (GMP facility), previous work experience in a cell processing laboratory, experience writing and updating Standard Operating Procedures, and knowledge/experience of tissue culture work and aseptic technique. They will also have experience with Microsoft Office and prior experience in sterile culture work, working with human apheresis products, blood, bone marrow, and HSC. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail and meticulous skills for work.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
