Description of Duties:
The Laboratory Technician performs technical laboratory work including sterile cell and tissue culture, mouse experiments, molecular biology techniques, lab maintenance, and generation of reports.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; or an Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time laboratory experience.
The preferred candidate will have a BS in Biological Science, training in basic cell culture and at least one year experience in sterile tissue culture work, previous work experience in handling and working with mice, knowledge of flow cytometry, experience in following Standard Operating Procedures, experience in reading methods from scientific literature, good written communication skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite. The candidate will also be familiar with Molecular Biology techniques such as PCR, Western blot, cloning, extraction of RNA or DNA, plasmid expansion and purification. Bioinformatics and coding is a plus.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
