Laboratory Animal Services Attendant
The Laboratory Animal Services Attendant performs tasks that directly and indirectly impact the health and well-being of laboratory animals, such as animal husbandry which includes providing adequate clean food, water, housing, and cleaning, processing, and sterilizing rodent microisolator cages and other associated equipment as needed. The Laboratory Animal Services Attendant also does routine sanitization of animal holding areas and ancillary spaces and operates mechanized cage washing equipment to sanitize and sterilize microisolator caging. They also work as a team with other staff to process and handle up to 1,500-2,000 cages per day and perform and maintain recordkeeping, such as keeping equipment inventory tracking, animal census, sanitization logs, and other documents as necessary. They will fulfill occasional weekend and holiday work as necessary.
Applicants must have a High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma. The preferred candidate will have their AALAS Certification, general animal husbandry skills/training/experience and overall sanitation/disinfection/cleaning experience. They will also have assembly line/general labor/automated equipment or related experience, record keeping experience and prior experience working in a laboratory animal facility where duties involved indirect and/or direct animal contact.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
