Description of Duties:
The Laboratory Animal Services Attendant will perform tasks that directly impact the health and well-being of laboratory animals including animal husbandry by providing adequate and clean food, water and housing. The Laboratory Animal Services Attendant will routinely sanitize animal holding areas and ancillary spaces, perform and maintain record keeping including animal census and sanitization logs and operate mechanized cage washing equipment to sanitize and sterilize microisolator caging. Occasional weekend and holiday work will be necessary.
Applicants must possess a High School diploma or G.E.D.
Incumbents must obtain certification as a Lab Animal Technician from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) within the one year probationary period for this position as a condition of continued employment.
The preferred candidate will have prior experience in a laboratory animal facility where duties involved indirect and/or direct animal contact and possess a certification through the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
