Description of Duties:
The Data Manager I provides clinical data services for a data network operation, fulfilling requests in a timely manner; acts as a certified honest broker. The Data Manager I abstracts data from the medical record or other institutional sources and accurately enters into a data collection system, provides documentation related to the use of the data collection systems used including any new procedures for collection of data, meets with investigators to determine their data requirements, and aids upper-level data management staff as necessary. They also monitor data for completeness and accuracy, help in defining queries necessary for monitoring of data accuracy and completeness, and run queries and reports to identify discrepant/inaccurate data entry. The Data Manager I identifies reasons for inaccuracy and sends queries to appropriate personnel to correct and complete the data.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of one year of full-time experience in a clinical trials and/or research environment; or an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience in a clinical trials and/or research environment. The preferred candidate will have previous working experience of at last one year (full-time) as Data Manager at Roswell Park, will be familiar with procedures of the BMPK Shared Resource and familiar with handling of pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) data and genetic association studies, and will have the ability to request clinical data: e.g. demographics, genotype, co-medication, treatment information (start dates, stop dates, dose), adverse events, and PK/PD parameters and to collect requested clinical data and build a database (e.g. Microsoft Excel). They will also have the ability to extract data into spreadsheets suitable for analysis by pharmacometric or statistical software in a "ready to use" way. Software data format includes, but is not limited to, that for SPSS, SAS, R, NONMEM, and Phoenix. They will also have the ability to perform basic analyses, e.g. Fisher’s exact test, logistic regression, to collect statistical results in a database (e.g. Microsoft Excel) suitable for manuscript writing, and to summarize demographic data and statistical results in tables and figures suitable for manuscript writing.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
