Description of Duties

The Clinical Research Coordinator I manages and coordinates the care of patients participating in a clinical research study with guidance from preceptor, educator and/or administrator. The Clinical Research Coordinator I educates patients, families and staff regarding study compliance and collects a complete and accurate study data set and facilitates accrual to clinical research studies. They also assist with preparation of Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) drug sets using investigational agents and commercial drugs for clinical studies and work with the Investigational Drug Service pharmacists and investigators and IT staff to complete orders under a timeline. Traditional duties of The Clinical Research Coordinator I may include working with physicians to enroll patients in clinical research studies and coordinating all aspects of the study implementation. This incumbent's duties will focus on CPOE responsibilities and would include limited: management of patients on protocols, ensuring compliance and appropriate documentation, data collection and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of one year of full-time acute care or clinical research experience; or an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of two years of full-time acute care or clinical research experience. The preferred candidate will currently have their SOCRA or ACRP certification and previous pharmacy or nursing experience. They will also be detail oriented, self-directed, will have the ability to work independently as well as a member of a team, and will have Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) knowledge.

This is a grant-funded position.  Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
