Description of Duties

Health Research, Inc. (HRI) Roswell Park Division is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Associate I. The Clinical Research Associate I assists with the facilitation of scheduling, screening, consenting, and conducting exercise interventions with research participants under the direction of the Project Investigator(s) and Project Coordinator. The candidate will independently facilitate and conduct study intake and study intervention visits for participants, including administering questionnaires, performing submaximal and maximal exercise testing, as well as conducting weekly phone calls with study participants. The candidate will be responsible for managing and tracking databases, entering data, verifying the accuracy of entered data, and assisting with the compilation and descriptive analysis of entered data. The candidate will be responsible for continuous maintenance of study-related standard operating procedures, equipment and helping to ensure compliance with study and institutional procedures. The candidate will review medical records and perform medical annotation of ongoing studies. The candidate may assist with the preparation of IRB submissions and materials. The candidate will attend meetings and trainings as necessary and provide general support to the Research Staff and Principal Investigators. They will also perform other related duties as assigned or requested by the study investigators.


The applicant must have an Associate’s degree in a health or science related field. The preferred candidate will have at least one-year experience performing research in a clinical research setting. The preferred candidate will have flexible scheduling during the day and evening hours of the work week. The preferred candidate will have a background in Exercise Science or related field and/or be certified by the American College of Sports Medicine or similar and possess experience performing peak and submaximal exercise testing. The preferred candidate will also possess experience working with study participants in a social/behavioral, clinical, or exercise/rehab science research setting, experience with screening, consenting, scheduling and facilitation of study visits. and with data entry and management. The preferred candidate will have experience with medical annotation or abstraction and experience with developing and maintaining SOP and IRB documents and materials.

This is a grant-funded position.  Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
