Description of Duties:
The Clinical Research Associate I will contribute to the day-to-day operations of a NCI-funded study examining social networks and psychological outcomes among parents/primary caregivers of pediatric cancer patients. Duties of the Clinical Research Associate I include, but are not limited to screening prospective participants for study eligibility, conducting in-person participant recruitment and enrollment in hospital/clinical settings, including informed consent, administering online questionnaires and troubleshooting technical issues, and collecting data from participants in hospital/clinical settings as needed. They will also use electronic health records system to extract patient data, perform data management tasks such as using tracking databases (e.g. REDcap, Excel), entering and cleaning data, performing general office work (e.g. preparing mailings, scanning documents), assist with grant preparation, publications, presentations, and/or applications to the Institutional Review Board, and other project related tasks as assigned.
Applicants must have an Associate’s degree in a health or science related field. The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a health or science related field, at least one year of experience or training in social science data collection methods and survey research, and demonstrated experience in participant recruitment and interviewing. They will also have strong computer skills, including working knowledge of PC operating systems, Microsoft Office software (e.g. Excel), and data management and collection software (e.g. REDcap). The preferred candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and will have the ability to think quickly in sensitive or difficult situations. They will be highly motivated, have the ability to work both independently and as part of a small research team, will have excellent problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
