Description of Duties:
The Clinical Laboratory Technician performs simple and complex tests in a clinical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer and cancer-related diseases in a timely, accurate and dependable manner. The Clinical Laboratory Technician performs blood product testing and component manufacturing activities within the Transfusion Service and Stem Cell Processing Laboratories. Some routine responsibilities of the Clinical Laboratory Technician include product data entry, product processing, product conformance test sampling/testing, and product storage and tracking. They also perform laboratory quality control, equipment maintenance, quality assurance activities, maintain laboratory supply inventories and processes requests for supply orders.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or an Associate’s degree in Medical Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technician in the State of New York. The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a laboratory setting and basic knowledge of clinical laboratory terminology and procedures. They will also have excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with a diverse population.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
