Description of Duties

Identification and functional analysis of novel glycan-based cell – niche interactions in blood cell production and function. The Molecular and Cellular Biology Department at Roswell Park Cancer Institute is searching for an ambitious PhD, MD, or PhD-MD biologist for a postdoctoral research project in the Identification and functional analysis of novel glycan-based cell-niche interactions in blood cell production and function. Projects will be oriented around one or some combinations of the following topics: identification and characterization of novel cell-niche in maintenance of hematopoietic stem cells; and the study of disruption to healthy hematopoiesis by normal cells neighboring malignant and pre-malignant neoplasms; role of glycans in the tumor and cancer stem cell niche. Self-motivated and detail-oriented individuals with appropriate training background in cell and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. The candidate’s research would be supervised by Joseph Lau, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Oncology. Position offers independence as well as important collaborative opportunities. Position is available immediately. Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) provides a state-of-the-art research environment that includes 23 research core facilities and active collaboration with clinical groups. RPCI is America’s first cancer center and the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in upstate New York.
