Description of Duties

A Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Lori (Chia-Hsin) Chan in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. The appointment will start in July or later, 2021. We are seeking for self-motivated, collaborative individuals to join our group. The primary research will focus on studying the molecular basis that underlines tumor metabolism, metastasis, and immune responses. The candidate will have opportunities to participate the development of new therapeutic interventions used for cancer treatment. We will provide the new member the multidisciplinary training in molecular biology, cellular biology and various mouse model systems including xenograft, syngeneic and transgenic mice. Our previous and current postdoctoral fellows and graduated student have had first and/or co-author in high impact journals and have been recognized by various national accolades including fellowship awards and/or travel awards. We sincerely welcome young individuals who are enthusiastic in translating creative research ideas from bench to animals and ultimately to bedside.

The incumbent will direct assist the PI in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center for conducting experiments for sponsored research funded by NIH and Foundation Grants. A high degree of integrity, organization and communication skills are required. The incumbent needs to be able to conduct research projects and design experiments independently. Supervision and on-the-job training will be provided in specific methods and techniques. The incumbent will train new personnel when necessary. The incumbent will need to participate in manuscript writing for publication; may assist in grant writing.  Salary is commensurate with relevant research experience and NIH pay scale.


Required qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field.

At least one first-author publication in peer-reviewed journals. 

Familiar with biochemical analysis, molecular and cell biological techniques, and working experience in cell culture techniques

Preferred qualifications:

Hands-on experience in flow cytometry in academic laboratory setting and working experience with mouse for breeding, genotyping and colony management is a preferred but not absolutely required.
