Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (RPCCC) is recruiting an assistant or associate rank psychiatrist. RPCCC is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center is currently expanding its Supportive Care Services and psychiatry is an integral part of this larger interdisciplinary effort in the disease management of the cancer patient. Psychiatry clinic is located in our newly built Clinical Sciences Center, adjacent to the main hospital. The psychiatrist supports both the outpatient and inpatient needs of Roswell Park patients throughout the continuum of their cancer care. This includes assessment and treatment of mental health diseases, distress screening and collaboration with other mental health providers in psychology and social work.
As a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, this service must adhere to clinical guidelines as it relates to psychiatry treatment plans.
This position would include primarily clinical responsibilities in both the outpatient and inpatient consultative setting. Ideal candidates will have exemplary clinical and communication skills, and a keen understanding of the mental health needs of the cancer patient throughout their trajectory of illness. The position will include an appointment at both Roswell Park and as faculty of the University at Buffalo Department of Psychiatry and encourage active participation and opportunities for education, mentorship and research. For junior faculty, there will be menteeship opportunities from senior faculty psychiatrists and the chair of this department as well as opportunities to work at another academic site in the department to perform consultation work. The candidate must be board certified or board eligible in psychiatry.
