Description of Duties

The Department of Pediatrics at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences seek a physician with experience in developmental therapeutics to join our pediatric hematology/oncology program.

The new recruit would join a vibrant and growing program consisting of 12 other full-time faculty members with well-established clinical, clinical research, and laboratory programs fully developed to cover a broad range of relevant areas within pediatric hematology and oncology. The collaborative program on the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus provides inpatient hematology, oncology, and stem cell transplant care at Oishei Children's Hospital (OCH), a brand new free-standing children's hospital that is part of Kaleida Health, and comprehensive outpatient services at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, a world-renowned state-of-the-art cancer care and research center.  Both OCH and Roswell Park serve as collaborative teaching hospitals for the University at Buffalo. The division has an active ACGME accredited fellowship training program in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

With comprehensive interdisciplinary disease-focused teams, physicians and staff treat all new pediatric cancer diagnoses in an 8-county catchment area in Western New York and see more than 100 new oncology patients each year.Through the newly established joint program between OCH and Roswell Park in pediatric hematology/oncology, a major focus has been the development of a pediatric cancer precision medicine program and expansion of the pediatric oncology developmental therapeutics program.  These growing programs provide consultation for high risk malignancies and offer access to phase 1, adoptive cellular and other immune therapy trials.

The Division now seeks a pediatric hematologist/oncologist to be an integral member of the developmental therapeutics program.  The expanding program provides excellent opportunities for basic, translational or clinical research and program development. We seek an investigator who can establish competitive basic, translational, and/or clinical research programs and bridge the gap between the laboratory and the patient, as well as between children and adults. Clinical responsibilities will also include participation in inpatient service coverage as well as providing primary oncology care in the outpatient clinic. Participation in medical student, resident and fellow teaching is an integral part of this position.

Requirements

Qualified candidates will have an M.D. or D.O. and be board certified or board eligible in pediatric hematology/oncology and must be licensed in the State of New York to practice without restriction and eligible to work in the United States. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with qualifications. Candidates who have completed additional fellowship training in precision medicine and/or developmental therapeutics are desired.

The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.
