Description of Duties:
The Physician Assistant performs a variety of duties in the evaluation, treatment planning and treatment of patients, such as medical work-ups of inpatients and outpatients; assists in surgical procedures; participates in providing postoperative care and follow-up; performs other medical/surgical services on patient divisions as may be requested.
Applicants must possess a License to practice as a Registered Physician Assistant in the State of New York and a Certification as a Registered Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) or other national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Departmen and a Certification or eligibility for Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Applicant must also possess a Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a Bachelor’s degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program recognized by the New York State Education Department. The preferred candidate will have two years of Physician Assistant experience, possess the ability to review and interpret imaging, including CT, MRI and PET scans. The preferred candidate will possess the ability to assess patients medical status/acuity independently, and have knowledge or experience managing patients that have received Radiation Therapy. The preferred candidate will possess a high level of professionalism, excellent communication abilities, be team oriented, patient centered, and have a strong focus on quality and patient safety.
