Description of Duties:
The Physician Assistant performs a variety of duties in the evaluation, treatment planning and treatment of patients, such as medical work-ups of inpatients and outpatients; assists in surgical procedures; participates in providing postoperative care and follow-up; performs other medical/surgical services on patient divisions as may be requested.
Applicants must possess a License to practice as a Registered Physician Assistant in the State of New York and a Certification as a Registered Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) or other national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Departmen and a Certification or eligibility for Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Applicant must also possess a Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a Bachelor’s degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program recognized by the New York State Education Department. The preferred candidate will have one to two years of Neurosurgery/Neurology experience, familiarity with brain and spine imaging and experience or the ability to learn image analysis/database software. The preferred candidate will possess the ability to function independently in assessing acuity of neurological conditions and correlating with imaging findings and the willingness to familiarize with clinical trials for screening purposes. The preferred candidate will also have a high level of professionalism, excellent communication abilities, be team-oriented, patient-centered and have a strong focus on quality and patient safety.
