The Physical Therapist (Per Diem) Designs and implements treatment programs to maximize functional independence; evaluates the efficacy of the programs; evaluates and treats patients with cancer-related disabilities; provides instruction to patients and caretakers in preparation for therapy and discharge; documents interventions and communications with health professionals; participates in educational programs; supervises physical therapy clinical interns and physical therapy assistants as needed.
Characteristic of the position is the short, unscheduled notice associated with reporting for duty, the variable nature of the hours worked per payroll period and temporary nature of appointments to this title and the fact that this is a non-benefit earning title.
The applicant must have a License to practice as a physical therapist in the State of New York. Doctorate degree from an approved physical therapy program; or Master’s degree from an approved physical therapy program and the equivalent of one year of full time experience in physical therapy or a related field; or Bachelor’s degree from an approved physical therapy program and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience in physical therapy or a related field. The preferred candidate will have acute care/oncology experience, EMR experience and strong written/verbal communication skills.
