Pathology Resource Technologist
Provides technical supervision and training for subordinate level staff members; performs and manages simple and complex experimental/laboratory tasks independently within the Pathology Resource laboratories and tissue banks to provide services or laboratory results for customers/investigators for use in research projects related to the treatment and prevention of cancer and cancer-related diseases in a timely, accurate and dependable manner. The Pathology Resource Technologist will routinely handle fresh tissue and process it for distribution or banking; handle formalin fixed tissue, performing multiple staining procedures and handling incoming requests through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The Pathology Resource Technician also provides technical supervision and training for other PRN members. The Pathology Resource Technician may be tasked to specialize in one sub lab or cross train in several sub labs in order to provide coverage to any area as required and assigned by the management team. The shift for this position will be variable and will include evening hours.
Applicants must possess Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or an Associate’s degree in a biological science and the equivalent of two years of full-time experience as a Histotechnician, Histotechnologist I [Roswell Park], Histotechnologist II [Roswell Park], and/or as a Pathology Resource Technician [Roswell Park] or a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of four years of full-time experience as a Histotechnician, Histotechnologist I [Roswell Park], Histotechnologist II [Roswell Park], and/or as a Pathology Resource Technician [Roswell Park]. The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a biological science, experience in histological procedures, fresh tissue handling, tissue biobanking, and have an exceptional ability to focus on detail and accuracy.
