Description of Duties

The Operating Room Technician assists the surgical team in the preoperative, perioperative and postoperative phases of patient care in the operating room; assists in the preparation of the surgical suite; identifies plans for and implements instrumentation for select surgical procedures as assigned; performs as assistant to the surgeon during surgical procedures; ensures sterile and aseptic technique within the surgical environment; enhances own professional growth and development through attendance at in-services, staff meetings and professional education programs

Qualifications

Applicant must have a Current Surgical Technologist Certification and an Associate’s degree in surgical technology with graduation from an accredited OR Technician Program or two years of OR Technician or related experience gained through military service. The preferred candidate will have previous experience as an Operating Room Technician in an endoscopy or hospital setting; experience with advanced endoscopic procedures and equipment; experience with Interventional Pulmonology patients and bronchoscopy procedures; and possess an CPR or BLS certification. They will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong team building skills, and a demeanor that promotes a positive work environment.
