Description of Duties:
The Oncology Nurse Coordinator plans, provides and supervises nursing interventions for individuals evaluated for cancer screening needs including assessing, diagnosing and treating. Responds to actual or potential health problems through such services as patient care, health teaching, and health counseling Provides interventions supportive to or restorative of life and well-being. Serve as a familiar face and provide continuous and consistent care for cancer screening patients including assessments, medication review and education, medication titration education, and aiding providers in symptom management and psycho-social interventions. These duties include face-to-face interactions with patients and family members, as well as via phone. This employee will aid in the maintenance and development of patient education, assist to clinic flow, notifying patients and providers of any wait times or delays in clinic.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. In addition, applicants must have either one year of full-time oncology experience; one year of full time critical care experience; or three years of medical surgical experience in an acute care setting.
The preferred candidate will possess OCN certification, be a Nurse II, and have previous care coordinator experience and at least two years experience at RPCI.
