Description of Duties:
The IMCU NP/PA is a member of the critical care team. His/her primary responsibility is the management of a caseload of complex patients in the intermediate care setting and he/she may be asked to assist in the care of patients in the intensive care setting as needed. The IMCU NP/PA will have specialized skill and knowledge related to the critical care setting in which he/she practices and performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications and provides direct patient care for critical care services.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York; and a Current Nurse Practitioner certification in New York State; and a Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA).
Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Nursing.
The applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies; or a Bachelor's degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program recognized by the New York State Education Department as well as a License to practice as a Registered Physician Assistant in the State of New York and a Certification as a Registered Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) or other national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Department.
The preferred candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience in a critical care environment as a nurse practitioner/physician assistant.
