Description of Duties:
The nurse candidate must demonstrate professional conduct in the work environment, must demonstrate the ability to work with staff members in the identification and resolution of problems related to the management and function of all nursing areas. The nurse candidate must be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and utilize appropriate channels of verbal and nonverbal communication skills. The nurse participates in the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of Enterostomal Therapy (ET) services in clinical, ambulatory and outreach areas in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the standards of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN). The nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents education needs to ensure high quality enterostomal patient care. The nurse also enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings and workshops.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. In addition, applicants must have either one year of full-time oncology experience; one year of full time critical care experience; or three years of medical surgical experience in an acute care setting.
