Description of Duties:
The Nurse II plans, provides and supervises nursing interventions for individuals with cancer and cancer-related health care problems; diagnoses and treats human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as patient care, health teaching, and health counseling; provides interventions supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; executes medical regimens prescribed by a physician, dentist or other licensed health care provider authorized by the State Education Commissioner’s regulations. The Nurse II supervises Nurse I’s, Licensed Practical Nurses, Hospital Clinical Assistants and Clinical Support Assistants; performs administrative tasks with assigned area of responsibility; enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings and workshops.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. In addition, applicants must have either one year of full-time oncology experience; one year of full time critical care experience; or three years of medical surgical experience in an acute care setting. The preferred candidate will possess a BSN, OCN certification, and be board certified in a nurse specialty (CCRN, Med-Surg). The candidate will have a minimum of two years in an oncology acute care setting; a minimum of five years of recent clinical experience in any of the following areas: medical-surgical, critical care, emergency room or acute care; one or more years of telephone triage experience; experience within Roswell nursing department, ambulatory and inpatient settings. The candidate will also have excellent customer service skills including verbal, interpersonal, and active listening skills; and working knowledge of the principles of professional nursing.
