Description of Duties:
The Nurse II performs nursing procedures within the RPCI Therapeutic Apheresis unit. The Nurse II performs Therapeutic Apheresis procedures in both in-patient and out-patient settings. Routine procedures for the Nurse II include: Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell Collection, Donor Lymphocyte Collection, Leukocyte Reduction, Plasma Exchanges and Photopheresis utilizing multiple apheresis technology devices. The Nurse II executes Therapeutic Phlebotomy procedures, routine direct patient management procedures, including IV administration, drug administration, Blood Product Transfusion, and laboratory test sample procurement. While executing collection procedures, the Nurse II maintains donor and product safety while adhering to all compliance mandated by State, Federal and accrediting agencies. This role includes a routine on-call rotation inclusive of weekends.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. In addition, applicants must have either one year of full-time oncology experience; one year of full time critical care experience; or three years of medical surgical experience in an acute care setting.The preferred candidate will have previous experience in apheresis procedures or dialysis, previous critical care experience, previous experience in a Blood Collection facility, and previous phlebotomy experience. They will also have excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
