Description of Duties:
The Nurse II plans, provides and supervises nursing interventions for individuals with cancer and cancer-related health care problems and diagnoses and treats human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as patient care, health teaching, and health counseling. The Nurse II also provides direct care and assumes responsibility for nursing care of assigned patients, administers medications and IV fluids following established policies and procedures, and provides interventions, supportive or restorative of life and well-being. They also execute medical regimens prescribed by a physician, dentist or other health care provider authorized by the State Education Commissioners regulations, supervises Nurse I's, Hospital Clinical Assistants, amd Clinical Support Assistants, and performs administrative tasks within the assigned area of responsibility. The Nurse II also demonstrates appropriate clinical and administrative decision making ability and seeks supervisor support for unusual or complex problems and demonstrates administrative/supervisory skills in monitoring quality care, enhancing patient/family satisfaction and promoting staff satisfaction.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. In addition, applicants must have either one year of full-time oncology experience; one year of full time critical care experience; or three years of medical surgical experience in an acute care setting. The preferred candidate will have their ACLS, Conscious Sedation Privileges, radiology experience, critical care experience within the past two years, or procedural experience. They will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
