Description of Duties:
The Licensed Practical Nurse performs patient care, health teaching and health counseling in an oncology setting, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The Licensed Practical Nurse assists in the goal of individualizing the care of patients in an attempt to support the patients to adapt to the disease process and achieve the highest level of wellness, performs routine nursing care procedures, and screens, performs venipuncture and monitors plateletpheresis and whole blood donor procedures. They also maintain donor and product safety ensuring compliance with State and Federal procedure regulations and enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings and workshops.
Applicants must have graduation from an accredited practical nursing school’s LPN program and a license or permit to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New York. The preferred candidate will have dermatology experience.
