Description of Duties

Roswell Park Cancer Institute currently has an open recruitment for Hospital Clinical Assistant positions for inpatient nursing. As positions become available we review those resumes and applications received to determine interviews for the open positions. Under the direction of the nurse, the HCA will assist in transporting patients to rooms, share basic input from the patient and family with the RNs, review care given to the patient and report the care to the RN or immediate supervisor; performs a limited number of patient observations and treatment procedures using detailed standard procedures and guidelines to assist and maintain patients’ health, serves as a bedside attendant for sitter cases.  The HCA attends to patients’ daily living activities, personal hygienic and simple human needs in order to maintain an atmosphere conducive to treatment and comfort for patients.  In conjunction with caring for patients, he/she must perform a variety of housekeeping and cleaning duties as related to direct patient care in order to ensure that the clinical area is clean, sanitary, safe, orderly and properly supplied; also performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications

Applicants must have current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers. Education and Experience 1. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of one year of full-time direct patient experience; or 2. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience in a healthcare setting; or 3. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of three years of full-time face-to-face customer service experience; or 4.
