Description of Duties:
The Cytotechnologist performs cytology screening, evaluation, and interpretation of gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides. The Cytotechnologist also assists with FNA and EUS procedures and staining and performs other routine clinical laboratory procedures/tasks including specimen processing and staining, report generation, quality control, preventative maintenance, and quality improvement activities.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Cytotechnologist in the State of New York; or a Bachelor’s degree in Cytotechnology and eligibility for licensure as a Cytotechnologist in the State of New York; or a Bachelor’s degree with a one year course of study at an accredited school of Cytotechnology and eligibility for licensure as a Cytotechnologist in the State of New York. The preferred candidate will have previous clinical cytology experience, experience with fine needle aspirate/rapid evaluation procedures, and will be proficient with Micorsoft Office Suite. They will also have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse population in a direct patient care setting.
