Description of Duties:
The Clinical Pharmacist - Specialist is relied upon by the health care team to optimize patient drug therapy. The Clinical Pharmacist - Specialist will be responsible for medication management of critically ill patients in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This challenging role calls for a practitioner to be responsible for effectively enhancing drug therapy outcomes of critically ill patients through review, continual assessment and improvement of the appropriateness, safety and efficacy of individualized therapies. They will provide direct pharmaceutical patient care, and be responsible for developing and implementing pharmacy programs and various quality, safety, and cost savings initiatives. Responsibilities of the Clinical Pharmacist - Specialist also include participation in the development, provision and evaluation of comprehensive pharmaceutical care standard operating procedures. There will be ample teaching opportunities available such as precepting PGY2 Pharmacy Oncology specialty residents, pharmacy students, and providing educational lectures for medical and pharmacy staff. Opportunities to conduct and disseminate research are available and encouraged.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of New York. They must also have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree; or a Master’s degree and the equivalent of one year of full-time clinical pharmacy or pharmacy-related experience; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of three years of full-time clinical pharmacy or pharmacy-related experience. The preferred candidate will experience in a PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency, will be a Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist (BCCP) and/or Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, and will have 3-5 years of experience working in a critical care setting.
