Description of Duties:
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Cytogenetics) performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in the Clinical Cytogenetics laboratory. Routine job responsibilities will include specimen preparation and set-up, tissue culture and harvesting, slide preparation, microsopic analysis and karyotyping. Additional responsibilities include the performance of quality control, preventative maintenance, inventory management, and quality assurance activities. Participates in the training of other laboratory staff and students rotating through the laboratory. Maintains the laboratory operations in compliance with NYSDOH, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory standards.
The candidate should posses a restricted license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist within the area of Cytogenetics in the State of New York; or a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for restricted licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist within the area of Cytogenetics in the State of New York. The preferred candidate will have previous experience in Clinical Cytogenetics.
