Description of Duties

Performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in the Molecular Diagnostics laboratory. Generates and interprets data for diagnosis and treatment of disease; involved in relevant quality control and continuous quality improvement activities. Examples of routine job responsibilities include standard molecular biology procedures such as DNA/RNA isolations, PCR, rt-PCR, sanger sequencing, and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) applications. The performance of calibration, quality control and maintenance procedures. Utilization of analysis software for report interpretation and generation. Coordination and maintenance of supply inventory for operational use within the laboratory.


Applicants must possess a full license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York or a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for full licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York. The preferred candidate will have the following: NYS Licensed or eligible as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or; BS in Molecular Biology and willingness to apply for a NYS Restricted license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist; Previous experience with basic molecular biology concepts and techniques; Experience with robotic technology; Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel spreadsheet manipulation and statistics; Excellent organizational and strong attention to detail; Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
