Description of Duties

Provides technical supervision and training to subordinate-level staff members; performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in a timely manner as assigned; obtains and interprets data for diagnosis and treatment of disease; performs related laboratory technology duties. Performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in the clinical laboratories within Laboratory Medicine. Routine laboratory testing will be in the Chemistry and Hematology sections with rotational assignment o satellite laboratory locations. Cross-training within the Transfusion, Microbiology, and Molecular disciplines. Routine job functions include specimen acceptance, accessioning, processing, performance of testing and quality control procedures, equipment maintenance, and the use of laboratory information system for result generation, reporting and documentation.


The applicant must have possession of a full license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for full licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York. The preferred candidate will have clinical laboratory experience in Chemistry/Hematology and/or other relevant clinical laboratory experience. The preferred candidate will also have phlebotomy experience and customer service experience in a high volume setting.
