Description of Duties

The Clinical Laboratory Technologist performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in the Clinical Cytogenetics laboratory. Routine job responsibilities will include specimen preparation and set-up, tissue culture and harvesting, slide preparation, microsopic analysis and karyotyping. Additional responsibilities include the performance of quality control, preventative maintienance, inventory management, and quality assurance activities. Participates in the training of other laboratory staff and students rotating through the laboratory. Maintains the laboratory operations in compliance with NYSDOH, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory standards. Provides technical supervision and training to subordinate-level staff members; performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in a timely manner as assigned; obtains and interprets data for diagnosis and treatment of disease; performs related laboratory technology duties.


The applicant must have Possession of a full license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for full licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York. The preferred candidate will have Clinical Cytogenetic experience.
